Shades of Earth by Beth Revis

Imagine being frozen for centuries. You are alive but frozen. You are on a spaceship travelling to another planet.

Amy chooses to go with her parents to a new planet that is similar to earth.

We see in the first 2 books in the series the story is unfolding on the spaceship. 

In Shades of Earth, the spaceship finally lands. FINALLY!!!!!

I don’t want to get into the story because SPOILERS!!!

So instead I want to discuss Amy’s decision.

Would you do that? Would you freeze yourself? For any reason?

It got me really thinking.

Imagine freezing yourself and waking up knowing that the people you grew up with, loved or hated are all dead. That Earth is no longer your home. That if you were to go back to Earth, nothing would be the same. And you wouldn’t have a place on it. Just that thought breaks everything apart.

I did find the book a bit slow, especially the beginning. However, the ending was good and unexpected at all.

Finally, I am glad to have finished this amazing series. The only Sci-Fi series I ever read in my life. And it’s the only trilogy that I own completely so that is saying something. I still remember when I first saw the cover of Across the Universe. Man, it brings back memories.

It’s time to say goodbye to yet another series. Looking forward to Beth Revis’s newest projects.

Holly cow… this book was just amazing. Reading the end of this book made me feel so sad and happy at the same time.

I was thinking what the ajghajkdghdasd happened? Wait, is it possible? Are human beings capable of doing so. and by so i mean, the whole concept of the novel. 

The writing was so pretty and flawless. Usually I hate books that are narrated by 2 or more girls because it is hard for me to distinguish them. But  it wasnt the same for this book. The two characters narrating were so unique. I loved them so much. Both of their love interest were interesting and I didnt know which team to be on. Picking teams was going to be pointless anyways...you will know why.

This book will keep you questioning whether all of this is real or not. Which part is real and which is made up or imagined. Personally, I thought everything was real...that both characters were real

Anyways, I really enjoyed reading this book. It was a fun read. Pick it up from a bookstore or a library.

I don’t know how to review this book since its not really your typical read that we are familiar with. It is a book composed of images that reflects a story. And this book proves that a picture is worth a thousand words.

What I really liked about this book is the fact that every reader will read it differently. Every reader will translate the images in the book differently which will create a unique storyline for everyone.

The pictures were all beautiful and captured something along the lines.  They were like Instagram images. Just beautiful. They weren't all images of humans; they were images of objects that symbolized something. so keep your eyes open for that.

So I was kind of scared to start this book. It had been on my shelves since February and I only picked it up in August. But I guess this fear came out from the fact that I never read sci-fi books and always thought of this genre that it is more boyish. But really this book was amazing. See how huge it is but it was still fast paced. Chapters were very small which is something I really love in books. I feel good when I finish a chapter and there were 81 chapters in that book so imagine how I felt. Each chapter was narrated by Amy or Elder. Its really good to have two narrators in a book because it gives you more scoop. Also, you get to know how these two characters feel for each other which is pretty amazing in that book.

For the characters, I loved them all. Amy was brilliant, this earth human. Elder was this confused, soon-to-be a leader of a spaceship. Eldest the novels' current elder was just crazy and a dictator.

For the book's plot, I never read anything like this. It was so unique, so unique(again). like I never read a book that takes place in a spaceship. And really I was never bored …just like I said, it was fast paced. Within each chapter there was something going on and a new secret revealed. It was just perfect.

And I must say that when the publisher (or whomever thought of this) had two covers for this book; one girly and the other boyish it was a smart idea because the book could appeal to both males and females. And I don’t usually say that on books I read.

Also, this book makes me thankful of all the things we have on Sol-Earth. Really stuff like the stars and the sun. Be thankful, readers.

If you have this book around, go and pick it up. It's amazing.   

Book Review: Vampire Academy

To be honest with you I had mixed feelings towards this book. I had high expectations since everyone had read it and loved it. And it's about vampires. So I was ready to get some action and fun while reading the first installment in the vampire academy series.

First off, the dialogues throughout the whole book were very weak. It was just too unrealistic to me. Therefore, I didn’t feel any connection between me and the characters. I didn’t care about them. And we all know if you don’t care for, at least, the main character, then there is a problem. The characters were not memorable at all. Of course, I am not talking about Rose, Lissa and Dimitri, but I am talking about the other minor characters. They didn’t stand out at all. Also, I was bored for most of the time. There wasn’t enough interesting "things" going on in the book to keep me awake.

The relationship between Rose and Dimitri was the cutest thing. Towards the end of the book, it was the only thing I was paying attention to. Also, Lissa and Rose friendship was so inspiring and moving.

So I know the series consists of 6 books. Will I be continuing reading the series?

The answer is: Yes

Because I read on goodreads.com that the series gets better. So I'll read it because 

of that comment.
